PART OF A CONVO WITH A SUPPORTER ON OUR PRIVATE FORUMS:
The assessment I try to make when it comes to wordsmithing with someone is to find my starting point with the person. If they are immersed in DSM-5 nomenclature, I’ll start there (or near there). If they are somewhere else, I want to begin there.
It makes no difference to me as long as I’m reasonably assured of where they are in their understanding and practice of God’s Word.
The point is not to sideswipe them (or whack-a-mole, as you said) but begin in a comfortable place for them, asking the Spirit to give me the wisdom, grace, and courage to start a journey to biblical sufficiency.
Honestly, it’s one of the things I love the most about counseling—not knowing the person or where to start; it’s invigorating! You never go in with a pre-determined plan other than to listen, learn, and lead. Some call it flying by the seat of your pants, but it’s not that at all.
Unless the Spirit does not have a grip on your pants and the Bible is not your flight plan. https://lifeovercoffee.com/you-must-find-your-starting-point-before-helping-others/

A local church’s worship value is not primarily about the music but the lifestyle because you never ask, “Are you worshiping?” The reason is that we worship all the time. God made us for worship—wired us for worship, you could say.
Worship is part of what it means to be image-bearers. Who could do otherwise? The better question is, “What or whom do we worship?” https://lifeovercoffee.com/three-characteristics-of-a-fantastic-local-church/
Whenever a person chooses sinful anger, he is, in effect, giving the other person control over him. It’s counterintuitive. In his anger, he is like a marionette, a puppet on a string.
Anger toward someone is the total submission of their thoughts, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors to the other person. It is not self-control, as governed by the Spirit of God, but someone out of control or under the control of another spirit. https://lifeovercoffee.com/podcast/ep-110-help-for-the-angry-person/
