UNSOLICITED TESTIMONY: "I had been searching for a discipling program to recommend to our church body for over a year. I had taken courses using another model, completing certification level one. I had this gnawing idea that this program had some major weaknesses in the assessment area.
Counseling is a skill that can only be assessed well if an expert in it walks with you through the course materials, just as a master teacher can help a student teacher develop as a teacher. So, I prayed for an assessment model that would ease my conscience and hold to the principles of learning a skill well.
At the invitation of two Mastermind students, I saw Rick and Lucia at a local church conference. I was encouraged, and investigated more resources on the Life Over Coffee website. Discussions followed with my fellow elder, resulting in me believing I should sign up for the Mastermind Program.
I believe the Mastermind Program is an answer to prayer. I believe I have the capacity to counsel, but why not check if this is true through a program that has the goal to assess that capacity?
As an elder, I hope to see discipling skills grow in each church member; I feel it is vital that I equip myself and others to do it well. This aim is my reason for taking the program. While completing the courses, our local church is creating a structure to better equip the flock to disciple each other." A local church’s worship value is not primarily about the music but the lifestyle because you never ask, “Are you worshiping?” The reason is that we worship all the time. God made us for worship—wired us for worship, you could say.
Worship is part of what it means to be image-bearers. Who could do otherwise? The better question is, “What or whom do we worship?” https://lifeovercoffee.com/three-characteristics-of-a-fantastic-local-church/
Whenever a person chooses sinful anger, he is, in effect, giving the other person control over him. It’s counterintuitive. In his anger, he is like a marionette, a puppet on a string.
Anger toward someone is the total submission of their thoughts, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors to the other person. It is not self-control, as governed by the Spirit of God, but someone out of control or under the control of another spirit. https://lifeovercoffee.com/podcast/ep-110-help-for-the-angry-person/
